Status of this blog...

I started this blog to have a place to put posts about guns, in an effort to keep my Facebook account more about me, less about politics. I have quickly found a few things.

1. It's just easier to share other posts on Facebook.
2. I don't have the time to keep track of ammo prices every week.
3. I've been too busy fighting for gun rights to make long posts on it.
4. I can be lazy.

Needless to say I'm not sure that I will be doing much on this blog as I move over to Twitter. Please follow me there at @SixShotScott

Feinstein's gun CONFISCATION bill

I'm sure some people will find the title of this post controversial. On January 22nd new legislation will be able to be brought before the Senate. We can be assured that Feinstein's new bill will be among those bills introduced. We must be aware that this is NOT just an assault weapons ban. This is a gun CONFISCATION bill. Feinstein has said in the past that she would confiscate guns if she could get away with it and now she is trying to.

Now, you might ask, where in her bill does it say firearms will be confiscated? While the word confiscated or confiscation is not used in her bill we have to really look at the bill in order to understand how and when confiscation will come.

On Meet the Press Mrs. Feinstein said this about her plan, “It will ban the sale, the transfer, the importation and the possession, not retroactively, but prospectively,” and ban the sale of clips of more than ten bullets, Feinstein said. “The purpose of this bill is to get… weapons of war off the streets.”

Her version of the bill would require NFA registration which is a lengthy process which includes your local law enforcement signing off that the weapon is not illegal in that area. It also requires a tax stamp of either $5 or $200 depending on what it is. While most of what I have read said it will be a $200 tax stamp on any weapon OR magazine I do not believe that they will charge $200 per magazine. Because the firearms could not be transferred upon death they would have to be turned into the government. There's the confiscation part of it right there. While you wouldn't have to turn in your firearms right away, eventually this bill would require them to be turned in.

It's important to let our legislators know where we stand on this bill.

Ammo Prices for 1/1/2013

Every Week we will be publishing ammunition prices for some of the more common calibers. Although the data is not complete for this week we will try to keep you informed on what is in stock and where the cheapest prices are. If you know of any good bulk ammo supplies please e-mail me with the information and we will start tracking them.  Just because a supplier is listed does NOT mean that I am endorsing them.

Feinstein's "Assault" weapons ban proposal

Here is Feinstein's summary for her "Assault" weapons ban.

http://www.feinstein.senate.gov/public/index.cfm/assault-weapons

Why are we allowing someone who doesn't even know the basics of gun safety to attempt to regulate firearms in this country?

Sorry, your finger shouldn't go on the trigger unless you are going to shoot!

We ALL need to write to our Senators and Representatives and let them know that we OPPOSE any new gun control legislation. This proposed act is in direct violation of the 2nd Amendment, the ONLY amendment which gives us, the citizens, the ability to protect ourselves from a tyrannical government. Remember that the 2nd Amendment is NOT about having a firearm to hunt with!

To e-mail your Representative go here:

I do not suggest using a canned e-mail, which is why I will not offer one on this site. The legislators MUST know that the e-mails are coming from different people with their own thoughts and not copy and pasted. Now is the time to act! So often the minority beliefs in this Country get their way because they are the vocal majority.

Purpose of this blog

Instead of bombing my facebook page with all of the writings I'd like to make on the subject of guns and our rights as gun owners I have decided to make a blog. Being the holidays I probably won't be writing too much but I'd like to start.

And where to start? Right now, since the tragedy at Sandy Hook Elementary guns and control, unfortunately, have taken center stage in the media and political realm. Unfortunately a lot of what is being proposed is an emotional, knee jerk reaction to a horrible event. I get that... I understand how people will get charged up about the issue and believe that the quickest way to a resolution is to get guns away from as many people possible. I think both sides of the issue use misinformation and fear mongering in order to convince the other side. These tactics do nothing but further separate us from coming to efficient resolution of the problem. I believe that we all need to take a deep breath, put on our thinking caps and look at logical solutions to the problems that Americans face. Here are the "rules" and points that I'd like to come up with for this blog...

  • I believe that America is a unique country with its own culture and values. I do not believe the argument's showing what have been done in other countries are completely applicable to solving our issues. Yes, Japan has low crime rate because of tightly regulated firearms and low ownership. We in America do not have low ownership, tighter regulations would not have the same effect here. Japan has a completely different culture than America, while I am no expert I believe Japanese are more respectful of their elders and are more interested in earning what they have instead of being given things.
  • Guns are sometimes the "how" of the equation in violent crime and mass shootings. We need to focus on the "why" in a logical and financially responsible manner.
  • I am decidedly PRO-gun. I do not believe the 2nd Amendment gives me rights to arms, I believe it reaffirms the God-given right that we already have in order to defend ourselves from personal threat, and the threat of a tyrannical government. I also have a right to make decisions about recreation that does not infringe on anybody else's rights.
  • I will never say, "guns don't kill people, people kill people." I understand what people mean when they say that but I do not believe most anti-gunners get the point. We need to stop repeating the same old ineffective arguments and look at having logical dialogues. Guns are an effective tool in the killing of a human being. Cars, axes, bow and arrows, and a host of other "weapons" are as well.
  • I believe I have not only the right, but a personal responsibility to personal defense and the defense of those around me. Good guys with guns are an effective tool against bad guys with guns.
  • There has been an assault weapon ban since 1986 with the National Firearms Act. No new assault weapons can be manufactured for civilian use since that time. A few states do allow private transfer of these weapons. I have yet to see a mass shooter use a true assault weapons. M16's are assault weapons, AR15's are semi-automatic rifles that do have legitimate purpose (which we'll get to later).
  • This is a clip:
           This is a magazine:

  • If you post a comment with "facts" in it I expect to see some sort of a link to something credible that supports your comment. If you don't I probably won't publish it. I will publish all opinions, even those that don't agree with me as long as the dialogue is kept civil.
  • We should ALL be active with our politicians. We the people doesn't account for much when we are being silent on issues we care about.
